Zita’s evocative installation for the RHS Urban Garden Show, Lindley Hall, Westminster, in October, was inspired by the evolution of city living in the 21st century. From grey space to green space concern for the environment and sustainability is now centre stage worldwide.
With square footage also at a premium, especially in urban settings, the award-winning designer went vertical, creating a 4 x 3 metre living wall layered with seasonal foliage and flowers, in her inimitable naturalistic style. Entitled ‘Greening the Dream’ the installation was designed to offer a perfect leafy backdrop for an alfresco gathering in a city square, diminutive central courtyard, balcony or luxurious rooftop eyrie.
Zita’s RHS floral installation responded to a bold new world focused on all things social, both off and online – Instagram-friendly vignettes invited show visitors to interact with the display and each other, immersing themselves in a rich natural tapestry of verdant florals.
Zita also created some spectacular autumn displays in Lawrence Hall – these are posted at the foot of this blog post. Check Zita’s previous creations as the RHS London Floral Artist in Residence 2018, including her melodic Fantasy Pollination concept in the summer and magical Snowdrop Banquet in spring.
